Masala Corn is healthy snack that is very easy and quick to make on a cold winter evening. This is a a famous street food in India. Of course it is very costly there since Corn is not an everyday ingredient there.
If you can find frozen corn kernels - buy couple of bags of it and put it in freezer. Once you have this ingredient, it is very easy to make this recipe!
Slightly thaw the corn from Freezer for about 1 hour by leaving it outside. In a small pressure pan, Add 6tbsp of water and 2tsp Olive oil. Add the entire bag of corn and add Salt. Close the lid and cook it for 2 whistles. Leave the cooker for 15 mins and once the pressure settles, open it. Saute in the same pan so that any residual water content evaporates. Add any seasoning as below and serve it HOT!
Chatpata Masala Corn!
- Add 2tbsp Butter, 2 tsp red chili, 4tsp Chaat masala
- Finally squeeze lemon over it while serving.
- This is served hot. So, squeeze lemon only while serving.
The same recipe can be followed by changing the ingredients to Italian and make it Italian Corn!
- Replace Butter with Garlic infused Olive oil
- Replace red chili with Italian seasoning and Oregano
- Replace Lemon with grated Parmesan Cheese.
Another variation is to make South Indian version of Sundal!
- Add 2tsp oil , Splutter mustard seeds, Urad Dhal, G.Chili, Curry leaves and hing.
- Add 1tsp chili powder.
- Sprinkle Grated coconuts, grated green mango and some carrots (1 tbsp each)
- Finally, garnish with Cilantro!!
